A member-based association uniting container transport operators under one collective voice — before TNPA, the terminal operators, the shipping lines and the regulators.
PFS Containers is a member-based association of container transport operators serving the Port of Durban — Africa’s busiest container gateway. We unite operators in the container sector under one collective voice and represent their interests before the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), terminal operators, shipping lines and regulators.
Every member holds a valid port permit, BAT number and RFID credentials, subscribes to a binding constitution and code of conduct — including a zero-tolerance position on corruption — and carries a unique PFS membership number displayed on its vehicles.
A world-class Port of Durban — where every container moves efficiently, every transporter is treated fairly, and the port drives the growth of the South African economy.
To unite, represent and protect container transporters: assisting port users, holding terminals and shipping lines to fair and efficient standards, promoting ethical conduct in our sector, and working in partnership with the port to improve turnaround times — for the benefit of our members, the industry and the country.
The collective voice of container transporters in engagements with TNPA, terminal operators and shipping lines.
A structured escalation channel for unresolved port issues, once a member’s own avenues have been exhausted.
Taking up systemic issues — demurrage and storage practices, free-time rules, booking systems and truck turnaround — through engagement and, where justified, regulatory and legal remedies.
A code of conduct that requires compliance with port rules and prohibits corruption — protecting the integrity of the sector.
Regular member updates and transparent reporting on the association’s work and finances.
Container transporters are the physical link between South Africa’s ports and its economy. Delays mean demurrage and storage charges passed to importers and exporters, delayed cargo, and lost competitiveness. PFS Containers exists to ensure the people who move the nation’s containers have a seat at the table — and that port efficiency is pursued with the road-transport leg, not despite it.
One collective voice for container transporters — stronger together than any single operator standing alone.
Zero tolerance for corruption. Members subscribe to a binding code of conduct and uphold it on every trip, every day.
Fair and consistent treatment of every transporter by terminals, shipping lines and regulators — no favourites, no victimisation.
A port that moves: reduced truck turnaround times, workable booking systems and free-time rules that reflect operational reality.
Transparent governance, open reporting to members on the association’s work and finances, and leadership that answers to the membership.
Full adherence to port rules, permits and the law — we hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of the port.
Membership is open to container transport operators holding a valid port permit, BAT number and RFID card. Members in good standing receive:
